Spurs back in for England midfielder

Mauricio Pochettino is ready to step up his attempts to sign Ross Barkley in January, because of the club’s mounting injury problems according to an article in The Mirror

Everton and England midfielder Barkley was a target all summer for Tottenham, but no deal could be ironed out with the Merseyside club, however the article does say the toffee’s are likely to put him up for sale in January as his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Tottenham boss has had to deal with a lot of  injuries in particular to midfielder Victor Wanyama, who hasn’t played since August, and of course  Mousa Dembele’s who’s last appearance was a month ago and has since suffered a set back in training this week and the article says this may force Pochettino to move into the market.

The article continues to say that despite the emergence of Harry Winks, Pochettino is still keen on Barkley and that chairman Daniel Levy is likely to try to push through a cut-price deal.

Pochettino said:“No decision at the moment if we are going to move in January,”

“Talking to (chairman) Daniel Levy and Steve and we are focused on every position on the pitch, to be vigilant and aware of what we need to do.
“At the moment no decision, we are happy and expect Victor and Mousa to recover.

“We are concerned about his (Wanyama’s) situation, must wait to see what happens when he sees the specialist. we have no clear idea what is going on.
“It’s difficult to explain on Mousa. He had incident in training and complained about pain in hip. He cannot complete intensity of the training.”

All seems very concerning about Wanyama and Dembele. Would you like to see Barkley at the club or is Winks in actual fact the future.
