PRESS REPORTS are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo.

According to Spanish newspaper, Marca, Spurs held talks in London on Thursday with his agents Juanma Lopez and Alejandro Camano.

Madrid have taken out an option to sign the 23-year-old for £4.3million from Almeria and could double their profit if they were to sell him on.

Spurs face competition from Premiership rivals Liverpool, with Madrid reported to haave offered the forward as piece of a part-exchange deal for Xabi Alonso.

Negredo scored 19 goals in 35 games for Almeria last season, and has also attracted interest from Roma and Genoa.
