Spurs set for summer Cahill bid?

News | idv | March 14, 2011 at 8:36 am

Tottenham are weighing up Bolton’s 25-year-old centre-back Gary Cahill, who was a transfer target for Arsenal in January.

According to the Metro, Harry Redknapp is now lining up a bid for the former Villa player. Bolton value Cahill at £20million and it’s unlikely that Spurs would pay over the odds for the England international – so a possible cash-plus-players deal that could involve Robbie Keane, Alan Hutton or Jamie O’Hara has been mooted.

With doubts over the fitness of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate – Redknapp is expected to bolster his central defensive options in the summer.

Kaboul, when fit, has looked really good this season, and should become the first choice partner for Dawson. Bassong and Gallas will provide plenty of cover. Cahill's a great player, but I'd rather see that much cash spent on buying a few players who can put the ball in the net.
