Spurs Sign Foyth

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the official signing of 19 year old defender Juan Foyth on a 5 year deal from Estudiantes.

The Argentinian youngster has been a figure of interest at Spurs throughout most of the Summer transfer window and was linked with a move to Tottenham back in July.

A potential deal for the centre-back had seemingly fallen through however, as Spurs were unwilling to match Estudiantes’ evaluation of the defender, with Tottenham only willing to part with £5.4 million up-front, at the time.

Strong interest from PSG also complicated the process, with Tottenham rumoured to have pulled out of the race to sign Foyth shortly before the beginning of August.

However, little over a month later and Spurs have finally got their man, as Tottenham have today announced that the 19 year old has put pen to paper on a 5 year deal at Spurs.

Speaking to Spurs TV, Foyth described the move as a ‘dream come true’ in his first interview in a Tottenham shirt.

“I really like this club. I’ve always followed it since I was a boy. I really like this league. I’m focused and now I’m going to try to make the most of it.”

“It’s a club that believes in young players and I’m very pleased to be here. I know the club has great history and is one of the biggest clubs in England.”

“I’m very happy to be here, it’s a dream for me. I also know that many young players are in the team at the moment. I think there’s a wonderful project here.”

Recent rumours have suggested that the transfer has cost Spurs somewhere in the region of £8 million, but currently the value of the deal is undisclosed.

So far, Juan Foyth is the first transfer target of 3 that Mauricio Pochettino aimed to bring in before Thursday’s deadline, with Serge Aurier widely expected to be the second.

Who do you hope will be the third?
