Tottenham’s new ground is to be a venue for the 2018 World Cup, should England win the right to host the event.

The new stadium is the first London-based ground to sign up to be a venue, with Wembley, the 2012 Olympic Stadium and the Emirates expected to be close behind.

Spurs have submitted plans to build a new 56,000-seater stadium by 2012 and these plans appear to have suited FIFA’s criteria.

London United, the body organising which stadiums are to be part of the bid, are due to make their formal submission of the grounds for the 2018 World Cup on Thursday morning.

Let me get this right, If we should happen to win the world cup bid, and should we happen to get planning permission and finance to build it, the stadium might be used for the world cup 2018. What a non story.

It is going to be great stadium, that will put Emirates in the shade…where it belongs. It will strengthen England’s bid to host the World Cup. This is a good news story!
