Spurs to swap Palacios for Newcastle’s Tiote

Spurs are lining up a new bid for Newcastle midfielder Cheik Tiote – but hope to fare better than they did with their January approach by offering Wilson Palacios in part-exchange.4

Palacios has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer after an underwhelming campaign in which he has slipped behind Tom Huddlestone and Sandro in the pecking order.

And although some Italian clubs have already expressed an interest in the Honduran, Harry Redknapp is keen to use him to test the Magpies’ resolve to keep star man Tiote – who only signed a new deal in February.

Newcastle have money to spend this summer, thanks to their January sale of striker Andy Carroll to Liverpool for £35million.

But owner Mike Ashley and boss Alan Pardew may be tempted to take up Tottenham’s offer, if the Londoners present a cash package of more than £8million alongside Palacios.

Meanwhile, Tiote – who scored Newcastle’s equalizer in their amazing 4-4 draw with Arsenal earlier this year – has spoken of his continuing good form at St James’ Park and praised his team-mates for their support.

‘I am not surprised [by how well we've done] because we work together and we have grown in confidence together,’ he said.

‘If you do well against a big club you have confidence, and this year we have done well.’

    I dont want that thug anywhere near a Lillywhite shirt. He could have ended careers of two spurs players when he played us. He has the footballing ability of a sledgehammer but with the level of IQ

    Nothing will come of this because Palacios is only worth £8-10 million tops and Mike ashley will want £30-40 million to buy out Tiote’s contract (6&1/2 years still left) levey won’t stump that up? also Newcastle have no money problems so won’t take cheap offers and only will sell player’s to teams that can afford to pay at least 2/3rd’s of the value up front.

    Tiote (if he did want to leave) would only want to goto a team with Champions league football which spurs cannot offer, so he might as well stay where he is as spurs have had their day and wasted the chance.

    look forward to the day when arry leave you in the lerch and you drop down the table to where you should be.

    I said when we signed Palacios we should not buy him and i will say the same about Tiote you cant trust the premiership just look what happened to our buys Hutton Palacios Bentley 35 milons worth of flops who played a lot faster before we bought them and then slowed when we purchased them for Millons. Now we wont get anything like what we paid for them we should try and bring through Townsend Parret Bostock Caulker Rose Mpoku and others before we buy enhanced flops

    We need him if he can frighten the scum up north and the scum in Holloway Road, anyone is better than the crap we got who can't fuckin beat a third division side like crappy Blackpool. But as I said before Harry needs to count on youth and begin a new beginning with the good youngsters we are supposed to have.
