What we learned from the win against Sydney

Ok, so we all know it was just an end of season friendly but there were still a few things that we managed to pick out from the match against Sydney FC to share with you.

De’Andre Yedlin

The young American right-back showed glimpses of why there is so much hype surrounding him.  He had a solid game, showing his electric pace with some great overlapping runs with Townsend in the first half and his positioning on a number of occasions was bang on in order to snuff out some decent goalscoring chances for Sydney FC.

On the flip side, he did play one square pass across his own penalty area which nearly led to a goal for the home side, if not for some great cover play by Jan Vertonghen.

Harry Kane

Give the boy a chance to score and he will.  He always seems to link up well with Erik Lamela and finished well from a tight angle in the first half.  Many pundits are looking to see if Kane will be a one season flash in the pan, but he won’t.  Kane will continue his hot form into next season and beyond.

The future is bright

After years of not producing any young talent, it’s refreshing to see so many young Spurs players being given a chance to impress.  Harry Winks, Kyle Walker-Peters, Tom Carroll and Josh Onomah were all given a run out during the second half and all gave a good account of themselves.  I’m excited to see them given more game time during the pre-season.
