Spurs target in crunch talks today

News | idv | August 12, 2010 at 9:54 am

Aston Villa representatives will meet with Ashley Young later today in the hope of persuading him to stay at the club.

The England winger has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks.

Young was wanted by Spurs during his time at Watford but missed out to Villa, we will now have to pay in the region of £20mmilion to land the player.

He would add some extra options to the Spurs flanks and currently has two years left to run on his existing deal at Villa Park and earns roughly £60,000 a week.

thats a big sum of money for a winger of the same statue of lennon who i rate a better player. we should try signing a striker and a couple new defenders

  2. SUPER YID says:

NO we have gio lennon krancjar modric keane who can all play width whats the need ?

  3. mr bigstuff says:

we should leave young and get a strong centre back and stephan ireland

  4. BARRY says:

i think he would be an excellent signing, with him and bale down the left and lennon (when he gets back to the form of last year)we woulf frighten any club in the worln COYS

  5. Mark says:

Saw him for England last night and he is not anything special, certainly no better than the options we already have. Surely we should be courting some central defender coverage not chasing a midfielder where we have more on the books than most Prem teams. I would accept this deal if Jenas is part of it as that boy is crap and does not deserve to wear the shirt of the mighty Spurs

  6. Macca says:

Im so Peee'd, all this talk of a couple of quality signing to improve our already strong squad, WHERE are these signing ?
Ideally i would of liked to see Keane go and Huntelaar come in, but no, Arrys playing games again

  7. Clarky says:

We have to pull out all the stops to get young! Imagine the pace from Lennon on the right and young on the left! Scary would rip teams to shreds, also he can cross so well could see a few more goals from corners! Let’s get him

  8. lillywhitetilidie says:

How does this player enhance what we already have at the club? Denmark Simon Kjaer for our beleaguered defence please. Lillywhitetilidie

  9. IrishSpur says:

Completely agree with mr bigstuff , a strong CB and stephen Ireland is wot we need. A scoring midfielder to take the pressure off our strikers and he would offer us a different dimension.

  10. brian says:

i think we should buy him and ireland

i think we should get a cb but we probly have to sell to buy

  11. Yidmaster says:

Dont agree Macca, Keano is twice the player Huntelaar is. He scored a few goals in the Dutch league a few years ago and has been a benchwarmer ever since. He also had an unimpressive world cup for Holland. Keano looks like he has sorted his head out and is playing well in pre season. He has been a great servant to our club and deserves another chance.

  12. Charles says:

No Young!!!!! We need central defenders. There are plenty of world cup players up front to score goals and with Sandro's arrival soon the midfield looks very strong. If we are going to have a problem this year it will be at the back.
It would be great if Sandro takes both the Copa Libertadores and Champions League cup in the same year.
WE BADLY NEED ANOTHER GREAT C.B

    • yiddo says:

we should get william gallas on a free and michaea ritcheds, then someone decent to partener defoe and we can hold 4th again posibly more

See what I mean we’ve left it so late now we’re scratching around to see what’s left (bit like half two in the morning on a Saturday night on the razz) we were linked with Simon Kjaer before the world cup what happened? Gets snapped up by Wolfsburg (wasn’t aware of that) we were also linked with Christian Poulson to run the midfield with Sgt Wilson now he’s gone to Liverfool. We let Eidur go (can’t work that one out) we still have JJ. What is going on? Will someone at Spurs just fess up that we’re not buying anymore players so I can view something else on my telly other than Skysports news please. And what’s the story with Alan Hutton, have we sold him yet? That was 9 million well spent. Not. Wouldn’t mind that Ireland boy at ours though or Eagles for that matter. What’s happened to rent a gob O’hara? Confused lillywhitetilidie.

  14. John Ogden says:

personally im glad the we have not gone out and bought a load of new players. we have an amazing sqad perhaps a top draw striker for when defo goes missing mid season would have been nice but not on crazy wages. hes done it once with this team. i expect much improvement from players such as kaboul not at right back and gio in what ever role arry sees fit plus the addition of sandro and there you have our three new quality players. coys!!!
