Teddy’s Stevenage beaten by Spurs

Teddy Sheringham was unable to get one over his old club Tottenham as Stevenage’s pre-season preparations ended with a 2-0 defeat at the Lamex Stadium.

The ex-Spurs striker, who scored 124 goals in 277 appearances at White Hart Lane, is in his first managerial post with the Sky Bet League Two club and welcomed his former employers for Stevenage’s final friendly of the summer.

Tottenham’s XI was made up of players from their development squad and they cruised to victory thanks to Nathan Oduwa’s opener and Shayon Harrison’s second-half penalty.Oduwa had a bittersweet afternoon as he was then carried off on a stretcher having been knocked unconscious before half-time, later recovering to take his place on the Spurs bench.
Sheringham’s first competitive match in charge will be against Notts County when the Football League season begins next weekend.
