Huge boost for Tottenham as key quartet return

Tim Sherwood expressed his delight as Tottenham welcomed Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul, Paulinho and Sandro back from injury.

All four came through a 3-0 friendly win against West Ham United at Upton Park earlier today and represents a huge boost ahead of our Premier League clash against free-scoring Manchester City next Wednesday.

Also on the park was Lewis Holtby who set up all three goals.  Harry Kane scored twice and Milos Veljkovic also found the net in the 3-0 win.

Defensively it’s a big relief.  Vertonghen and Kaboul are much more defensively sound than Dawson – who gives his all, but his lack of pace is becoming a big issue.  Vlad has raw talent, but still has a lot to learn.

“It is great news to see so many lads returning from injury at such a crucial time,” Sherwood told Spurs TV after watching the game.

“They have come though okay and it’s good to see them get some minutes under their belts. There is nothing like playing.

“With players of this quality coming back to fitness it reinforces the fact that we have strength and depth in the squad. They are players with real quality and ability. That’s what I look for.”

The only two players who have also been sidelined through injury of late – Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela – did not feature.
