Yedlin to link up with Spurs next month

It’s hardly a secret but now even Sky are jumping on the ‘DeAndre Yedlin will join Tottenham in January’ bandwagon.

The full-back signed on the dotted line in August on a four-year deal from Seattle Sounders, but had come up against some difficulty in getting a work permit for the UK.

An option for Yedlin to get a Latvian passport due to his family heritage was considered, but was not needed after he was granted a Governing Body Endorsement.

Plenty of Tottenham fans are caught up in the Yedlin hype following his impressive displays for the USA in the World Cup and will provide some welcome competition to the recently-fit Kyle Walker.  You would have to think that Kyle Naughton will now depart the club in January, with Swansea said to be one potential destination.

Yedlin told the press soon after he signed for £2.5m: “I’m excited to learn from him and learn from the other full-backs, and from coach Mauricio Pochettino, who’s great with young players.

“I’m an attacking full-back and I felt when I signed that England will fit my playing style better. Tottenham was a good situation for me.”
