Tottenham defender linked with Lazio switch

Reports in the Sunday press are linking Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul with a move to Lazio.

We all know the quality which a fit Kaboul brings to the Spurs defence, he’d probably be our first choice centre-half if it wasn’t for his injury troubles.

According to the Daily Star, Spurs would want £6million for the French international, however the Italian side are reluctant to meet our valuation and are prepared to wait until later in the transfer window to try and push through a cheaper deal.

Our options at centre-half really do concern me.  Jan Vertonghen is a great defender when his mind is on the game.  Michael Dawson has been a fantastic servant, but his legs have gone and is prone to the big mistake.  Chiriches has the raw qualities to be a good player but is not ready to be first choice.

If anything, we need to bring in a top quality defender, Villarreal’s £21million-rated Argentine defender Mateo Musacchio has been heavily linked with a switch to the Lane.  Actually, rather than getting rid of Kaboul, I’d prefer Dawson to be shipped off to Hull.
