Now The Dust Has Settled

Not the start to our home campaign that was warranted on the evidence of the excellent first hour against Stoke, when a 4-0 lead would not have been a great surprise. However, the last 30 minutes will be of extreme concern. Once our talisman, Harry Kane was withdrawn and replaced by the totally ineffective Erik Lamela, Spurs seemed to retreat 10 yards allowing an up till then poor`Stoke side to gain the upper hand for pretty much the rest of the game. In truth, they looked like nicking an unlikely win given the fear that seemed to grip Spurs`after the awarding of that rather soft penalty. Poch’s substitutions have always been a cause for concern to many fans and surely Delle Alli instead of Lamela was a better option yesterday. Like Soldado, I want Lamela to do well, but a few more games like yesterday and I fear for his Spurs future.

It will be interesting to see where Clinton N’Jie slots in. As a striker or pacy wide man ?. Does anyone know his best position yet ?. One thing is sure, we need at least one more striker on the books quickly. Not to have a striker on the bench yesterday was asking for trouble, which as we now know to our cost arrived the minute Harry Kane went off..

Its early days and with the Transfer Window still open, we all wish for a pleasant surprise or two before September 1st. The cloud on the horizon is Levy’s reluctance to deal early and if we miss the boat this time, then there are going to be some very disgruntled Spurs fans out there.
