Poch: We are motivated for Chelsea clash

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that his Tottenham players are very motivated for tonight’s make or break clash against Chelsea.

Only a victory will suffice for Spurs as we look to keep our title hopes alive, anything less will hand Leicester City the Premier League crown.

With Arsenal also winning this weekend it’s imperative that we break our Stamford Bridge hoodoo for the first time since 1990.

There is no doubt that Pochettino will have his players up for this. We have lost just one of our last 10 Premier League London derbies which will hopefully act as a good omen going into the match (W5 D4 L1).

We need to see a much better performance than what was on display against West Brom. I was quite disappointed by the lack of fight which we failed to show during the second half.

“We spoke before with (assistant head coach) Jesus (Perez) and the staff,” said Pochettino, speaking before Leicester’s game.

“It is always difficult at the end of a season because of the fatigue – not only physical but mental – but the way we train every day, sometimes we have to stop them because it is too much.

“The motivation is massive. If I can help with my new contract and if Leicester drop points on Sunday I think it is welcome.

“But either way our players our very, very motivated to play on Monday against Chelsea.”
