Tottenham 0 Chelsea 0 – Match report

A game between the two teams that have committed and suffered the most fouls so far this season was always going to be a stop start affair. Less predictable was Mourinho sucking the life and entertainment* quite so completely from this Sunday lunchtime fare. It left a bad taste in the mouth. His non selection of Costa in favour of a team designed to sit, harry, niggle, dive and forfeit the chance of winning made this a couple of hours to forget. If Abramovich was watching he’ll be pondering the wisdom of his investment.

Santini’s bus has been returned to us.

The many Koreans in the crowd saw their hero Son miss our best two opportunities, one in each half. From range Kane and Dembélé also tested Begovic whilst Hazard had what I think was Chelski’s only shot on target well into the second half which, thankfully, Hugo was a match for.

Relegation troubled Chelsea will be much happier with their point than top four chasing Tottenham. It’s a sort of compliment to us that Mourinho would offer up something akin to watching a tin of Dulux do its work rather than try and win the game, not the sort of compliment I wish to witness too often though.

The unbeaten run continues even if the point gathering has stalled. Tony Pulis next week, he’ll have enjoyed Chelsea’s defensive efforts today, anyone looking for a Christmas present for Tony could do worse than buy him a dvd of this game.

COYS.

*I take it back. I’ve just heard Mourinho say on the radio that Chelsea created the best chances today. Made me chortle out loud.
