VIDEO: Sherwood hails Adebayor’s return to form

Tim Sherwood praised Emmanuel Adebayor at the post-match press conference at the Liberty Stadium as the striker bagged a brace to help his Tottenham team to a 3-1 win against Swansea City.

Adebayor has done brilliantly since being recalled to the first-team scene at Tottenham under Sherwood, after being frozen out of plans under Andre Villas-Boas.

Sherwood told the press conference: “Yes we’re delighted with the win. It’s a tough place to come and play. They play a different way, they play very brave on the ball and move it around in all areas so I think after the first 15 minutes we got to grips with it. We never had a shot on target until we scored but I always thought that we were the more threatening side, just thought we had to find that final pass and have a bit more quality in the final third and we would open them up. And for about an hour I thought we did that.”

When asked about the change in Adebayor: “Nothing. I’ve just given him the stage to go and play. He hadn’t had that stage for a while. It’s not as if I’ve turned Adebayor into a good player. I think we all know he’s been a good player. For every club he’s been at he’s been fantastic. We just need to get some consistency out out of him and I’m sure that if he enjoys playing, and he does at the moment, he’s going to keep performing well.”
