Portsmouth have described reports linking David James with a January move to Tottenham as ‘rubbish’.
The 39-year-old was reported to be keen on a switch to White Hart Lane during the next transfer widow, with a possible swap deal mooted for Carlo Cudicini. James has since been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Portsmouth’s Peter Storrie said: ‘It’s a load of rubbish, it really is.
‘David is under contract and it will be staying that way.
‘He’s happy and we are happy – David’s going absolutely nowhere.
‘We don’t need to sell him and we have no interest in doing so. People should ignore these rumours, that’s all they are.’
