Alderweireld relishing Kane battle

Toby Alderweireld has said he will relish the battle against Harry Kane when his Belgium side meet England in their final group game of the World Cup.

The Red Devil’s were ruthless in a resounding 5-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday and play England in their final group game while the Three Lions face minnows Panama today (Sunday), so next week’s game against the Belgians will likely determine who will finish top and who will be runners-up in Group G.

There will be a plethora of Premier League stars on show with Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne, Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku and Spurs trio Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld just a few of the Premier League based players in their squad.

And one of the most intriguing battles will see Alderweireld and Kane face-off, and the Belgium defender can’t wait to face his friend on the world stage.

Asked about the prospect of coming up against his Tottenham team-mate at the World Cup, Alderweireld told talkSPORT after Saturday’s win: “I’ve played against Harry in training a lot of course, but I’m looking forward to the game.
“A know a lot of England players from Spurs and the Premier League, so it’s going to be a special game.

He added: “It’s going to be difficult. England have improved a lot over the last couple of years, they have a very young and talented squad.
