Bench role for Grealish if he joins Spurs believes Rangers legend

Young midfielder Jack Grealish must decide whether he is willing to sit on the bench and wait for his chance if he leaves Aston Villa for Tottenham.

That’s according to former Rangers striker and manager Ally McCoist after Grealish has been heavily linked with a £40million move to Tottenham in recent days.

McCoist, talking on talkSPORT, said the Aston Villa winger has the potential to be a star at Spurs however he says Grealish would have to wait to become a regular under Mauricio Pochettino.

“I do think he has the ability to progress and play at that level,”:McCoist said.”Is he ready right now for the Tottenham first team? I would suggest no, I don’t think so.I don’t see him being a regular in that side at this moment in time.

Mc Coist added:”That is the decision that he has got to make. For that move to go ahead, he would have to realise that he’s not probably going to start every game. But in terms of his own development curve, they do play the type of football that I can see him playing.

He went on to say: “The pressure (of the fee) is immense but Grealish looks to me as if he’s one of these lads that would handle it absolutely fine.
“At the end of the day, the price tag has got nothing to do with him, although he clearly affects it with his performances and the way he plays, at the end of the day it’s the club who are willing to pay that amount of money for him.”
