Dele backs clubs ability to challenge Manchester City

Dele Alli has backed the club to challenge Manchester City next season, just days after Pep Guardiola’s side clinched the Premier League title without even playing.

City’s 3-1 victory on Saturday coupled with West Brom’a defeat of Manchester United at Old Trafford the following day saw Guardiola’s side clinch the title with five games remaining and in the process break a number of Premier League records, with them hoping to set a new highest points total and set the record for goals scored, having already completed an incredible run of 18 straight league victories which broke the previous record.

Despite trailing the Citizens by 20 points Alli has no doubt the Lilywhites will be able to compete at the top of the table next season.

“Yeah, I’d say so,”:Alli told talkSPORT. “I don’t see why not.
“Every team is looking to improve – no one wants to stand still, no wants to say ‘this is our level’ – everyone wants to achieve more.
“They are a great side, and they’ve got young players as well, which is good.

He added: “But like I said, everyone wants to improve and everyone wants to win the Premier League. We just have to keep improving as a team.”

Tottenham’s lack of silverware is not a problem for Alli and he believes we are not too far away from winning trophies. He continued: “We want to win every game, and if you want to win every game it’s going to end up the right way. We’ve got a great manager and we are all hungry to win and achieve something. The direction the club is heading in is not too far off.”
