Dele deal announcement imminent

Spurs will announce Dele Alli has signed a new contract imminently, according to Sky Sports man Michael Bridge.

Dele signed a new contract last September however according to The Express the England star is set to be handed a new and improved deal to keep him at White Hart Lane following Harry Kane in putting pen to paper.

The article says Bridge revealed the news on the Transfer Talk podcast saying: “It’s great news for Spurs that Pochettino is staying despite interest from Real Madrid.
Spurs have tied down Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane. It’s huge news going into the new stadium.”

He added: “My understanding is that Harry Kane is one of many who will sign. I also understand, and this is a Transfer Talk exclusive, that Dele Alli will be the next one to sign a new contract at Tottenham.

He also added: “People will say he didn’t have a great season last season, I thought he had a very good season. It was just the last two seasons he had magnificent seasons at Spurs. His two goals at Chelsea were the highlight for me.”

He also thinks Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen could follow suit in agreeing new deals, adding: “Spurs have already tied down Davinson Sanchez. He had a great first season at Tottenham, Michel Vorm and Kyle Walker-Peters, who is very highly regarded by Pochettino.I think Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, who has Tottenham’s player of the year, and Son possibly.

He went on to say: “Spurs might be without Son until September because after the World Cup he has to play at the Asian Games. If he doesn’t play there he has to go on to military service, I think I’d rather play in the Asian Games.
Spurs don’t want to get into the Alexis Sanchez and Thibaut Courtois mode. It’s a good start to the summer for Spurs. They need to bring a few in and they’ve still got the situation with Toby Alderweireld.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Alli had a very poor season and is so overrated. After Sissoko and Aurier, he was the player who frustrated me the most at Spurs. He went missing in so many games. He gives the ball away far too often, because of his tendency to hold on the ball too long. He lacks the ability to dribble passed players, which is why he keeps losing possession. He should release the ball quicker.

Hopefully Spurs will bring in a better player to replace him.
