European heavyweights in £180m Alli battle

Manchester United are ready to break the bank to sign Dele Alli according to a report in the The Star.

The article adds it appears the 21-year-old could be at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between Europe’s elite clubs as Real Madrid are tracking the situation.

It says that Jose Mourinho wants to add more creativity to his United team and having missed out on signing another winger this year, plans are being made ahead of next summer.

The article adds that United are prepared to spend big as well to ensure they can compete for the Champions League and that according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, the Red Devils are willing to pay up to around £180m for Alli.

United are hoping to see of competition from Real for his signature and the article reckons Tottenham could find turning that sort of money down difficult.

It adds that if Mauricio Pochettino’s side fail again this season in their quest for silverware, Spurs’ star players may leave.

It concludes by saying Harry Kane has also been linked with a move to the Bernabeu but that Manchester United do not want to lose out in the hunt for England international Alli with Barcelona also being credited with interest in the former MK Dons player.
