Tottenham have announced that Steffen Freund is to take up the role of International Technical Coordinator.
Freund was one of the very few backroom staff which was retained by the club following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas and his new position will see him responsible for the development of the club’s players on loan internationally, supporting the club’s overseas football projects, academy partnerships and identifying future talent.
The former Spurs midfielder played 102 times in our colours and with Mauricio Pochettino bringing in his own backroom team, Freund now sees his focus switch to developing our young talent.
The likes of Tony Parkes and Les Ferdinand have already left the club, shortly after Tim Sherwood was given his marching orders by Levy.
