Fulham 0 Spurs 3

To the many who like pointing out that our weaker performances come when playing the better sides as well as our inability to regularly take three points from the likes of Stamford Bridge and Anfield, this result will just add fuel to the small bonfire made of up accusations that we’re no more and no less than mere flat track bullies.

I show you Sunderland, I show you Wycombe, I show you Gent! Bullies? I wish.

This was a one-sided affair but Fulham were more than complicit in ensuring that this was a confidence boosting afternoon for us. Much the same way we were last week on Merseyside but in horrible reverse, they were principally tactically over optimistic – “Come and have a go if you fancy it?” “Ok, we will.” “Oh Shit”, and the damage was done.

Kane’s wonderful finish was the only product of a first half we completely dominated before two more adroit completions helped Dignatise the Cottagers in the second. Kane, Trippier and Eriksen were given the freedom of Hammersmith, Alli too, though this game was one of those where his eye seemed as much on improving his flick, nutmeg and dummy total as anything else. Lovely assist for Harry’s third mind. Eriksen was the supplier for Kane’s other two, both taken first time and emphatically.

Crisis is in the eye of the beholder and this performance and result has enabled Poch to stick another piece of furniture against the door helping to keep back the queue of those looking forward to swiping the foundations from under the man who has built so much in the last two seasons. Gent, Stoke, Everton, Millwall to come, each one a hurdle and stepping stone.

Vertonghen is back. Fan bloody-tastic. Rose returns soon and off we go again. Bring it on.

COYS.
