Ginter Signs For Monchengladbach

According to SkySports, Mattias Ginter has officially signed for Borussia Monchengladbach on a 4 year deal, subject to a medical.

Spurs had been heavily linked with the 23 year old both before and after impressive performances for Germany in the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia, which Germany went on to win.

Amidst speculation, it was revealed that new Borussia Dortmund boss Peter Bosz fully expected Ginter to depart the club, and was subsequently planning for the next campaign without the young centre-back.

It became clear just yesterday that a move to Monchengladbach would best suit Ginter’s wish for regular football, what with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld a difficult partnership to displace at Tottenham.

According to SkySports, Borussia Monchengladbach secured Ginter’s services for just £14.9 million and is expected to complete his medical today.

From what I’ve been able to gather, not many here listed Ginter as a very high priority, so this won’t come as too large a disappointment either.

But considering this transfer is no longer possible, who would you sign instead? Would you be looking for defensive cover, or a first team centre-back for three at the back?
