Tim Sherwood has told Harry Kane that he will be given his opportunity at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old who has come through the ranks at Spurs is third-choice at White Hart Lane behind Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado.  Jermain Defoe’s departure to Toronto will present more opportunities for Kane, who has featured often late on as a replacement.

Kane has yet to score a Premier League goal but has shown glimpses of what he can do when called upon.  Some will say he’s a long way off being a regular, but it’s refeshing to see youth being given a chance at Spurs after years of hardly any players coming through the ranks.

Sherwood told Sky Sports: “Harry Kane has done brilliant. Since he’s been back as the third striker he’s been fantastic in training.

“He’s had to be very patient. If I was Harry Kane, I’d be banging my door down every day and saying ‘Why aren’t I getting an opportunity to play’ but he’s respectful enough to know that we’ve got world-class strikers.

“He will get his time.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. iam afraid Harry has to improve another 40-50% to get in the first team properly .lack of ball control no left foot!!?? lack of awareness, pace

  2. The sparks of talent have shown in the few cameo appearances he has made so far. He will do well if there are more goals in him like the one he scored in Europe. Its refreshing to see home grown talent like Harry coming through our youth system. I biggest problem as a team is at the lack of a quality center half to partner VanToungen .Mr Dawson is slow, sluggish, lacks good positional instincts and is very poor at decision making. Most of the goals we have conceded have been as a result of him being caught out of position and him struggling to contain a pacey striker. With Kaboul not fit and chiriches also suffering from a lack of pace, we need to go shopping. With the current central defensive issues we have we cant become a top 4 team.
