Harry’s pride at equalling Gerrard’s record

Harry Kane has equalled Steven Gerrard’s Premier League record with his sixth EA SPORTS Player of the Month award.

Harry scored eight goals in six December matches, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Burnley and Southampton, and in the process set a record of 39 PL goals in a calendar year.

This award means he equals Liverpool legend Gerrard with six EA SPORTS Player of the Month awards, the most for any player in the competition’s history.

“It’s amazing, very proud of that,” Kane told the Premier League website of matching Gerrard.
“I’d probably say my favourite goal was the one that broke the [calendar year] record against Southampton,” he added.

He went on to say “Obviously there’s a lot of talk before the game about whether I’d do it or not so to get that goal early on in the game as well, it was a great achievement.”

It adds how he received the most combined votes from a panel of experts, Premier League captains and fans to claim the award ahead of seven other nominees who were Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso, West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic, Liverpool duo Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Jesse Lingard, of Manchester United, Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Manchester City’s Nicolas Otamendi.
