Josh King has opened up about the transfer speculation linking the 25 year old with a possible move to Tottenham this Summer.
King, who scored 16 goals for Bournemouth last season in 36 appearances, revealed his intrigue over the rumours and how flattered he felt to be mentioned within the same breath as Spurs. He told The Daily Echo:
“I was focusing on the season and finishing it strongly. But I would be a liar if I said I hadn’t noticed it. It was in most papers in England and you have got people tagging you and sending you links here and there.”
“I was intrigued even being mentioned in the same sentence as Spurs, a big team who play in the Champions League.”
Outlets such as The Mirror and HITC Sport have previously reported interest from Spurs in signing the Norwegian striker, however any claims are yet to be substantiated.
From what we can tell, it most likely wouldn’t take much to lure King to Spurs, what with Defoe’s transfer to Bournemouth practically imminent. King’s a striker who’s already found his feet in the Premier League and who knows, maybe he could score 10+ goals as a back-up striker.
I think I’d still rather stick with Janssen. I’m confident he’ll come good sooner rather than later. What do you think?
