Kane has Sheringham record in sights

An article on the club website describes how Harry Kane grew up watching Teddy Sheringham at White Hart Lane and now he’s climbed ahead of the legendary striker’s goal total at Spurs.

The article describes how Teddy, currently managing ATK in the Indian Super League, scored 124 goals in all competitions in two spells at the Club, 1992-1997 and 2001-2003.

It adds that Harry overtook Teddy with his double against AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup on Sunday, moving Harry up to ninth in our all-time goalscoring list with Alan Gilzean (133) next in his sights.

“Teddy – what a player, and what a Club legend as well,” said Harry. “To go above his total is a great achievement, one I’m proud of. Now it’s on to the next one.”
Harry’s next milestone looks set to involve Teddy as well.

Harry’s Premier League tally of 96 goals for us in the Premier League, is just one off Teddy’s Club record of 97, adding that he is two goals away from becoming our all-time leading goalscorer in terms of the Premier League and four away from becoming the first player to score 100 Premier League goals for Spurs.

“It’s happened so quickly,” said Harry. The last three or four years have gone by so fast,” he added. “It’s about doing the right things, keeping going and hopefully getting past more players!”
