Lamela committed to Spurs

An article in The London Evening Standard describes how Erik Lamela has reiterated his commitment to Tottenham as he continues to be linked with a move back to Serie A.

The Argentine winger is gradually be reintroduced back into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad after over a year out of the side with hip injuries and personal issues and the article says that Inter Milan have long been linked with interest in the former Roma star, while Premier League strugglers Southampton were reportedly keen on a loan move on Deadline Day, but Lamela is happy at Spurs.

“There’s never been anything with Juventus,”: Lamela told Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Inter? I only think about the club I’m at, and I am very good here at Tottenham. The club is getting better and better, and I love living in London.”

The article goes on to say that Lamela became Tottenham’s record signing when he arrived in 2013, as part of the so called “Magnificent Seven”. However the winger struggled in his first season but established himself as a hard-working wide man when fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino joined the club.

It adds that Lamela is happy he stayed at Spurs despite the intial challenges and sees no reason to leave.He continued: “Pochettino is from Argentina like me and he knows that it is not easy for a young player to settle in quickly in a completely different culture.

Lamela also added: “At the beginning, I had many problems with the language, injuries and different football. After the first season, many people told me to leave England but I didn’t want to give up, it was a challenge.
“Now I’m still here, so I made the right choice.”
