Tim Sherwood has insisted that Lewis Holtby still has a future at Tottenham Hotspur, despite joining Fulham on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Tottenham boss feels that regular Premier League football will benefit the midfielder, which was something he could not offer Holtby at the club.
Sherwood told the press conference: “I think I’ve said previously that, we’re pretty strong in my opinion in that area of the field and the last thing I want to do is stockpile players who I don’t see featuring (on a) regular basis and I think he…. he’s a good lad, he warrants a start, he’s certainly one that I sanctioned to be able to leave the club.”
When asked if Holtby has a Tottenham future, Sherwood added: “I think he has, yes. It will be great for him now at Fulham. He’ll play regular football. I can’t see him not playing regular football in the Fulham side and he will benefit from half a season he’s got left playing in the Premier League, yes. So we look forward to welcoming him back in the Summer.”
