Maximilian Philipp Signs For Dortmund

According to the Bundesliga official website, Borussia Dortmund have successfully signed German Under 21 international Maximilian Philipp from Freiburg on a 5 year deal.

The attacking midfielder had been linked with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, but has now officially put pen to paper with German side Borussia Dortmund.

Philipp showed plenty of promise last season, scoring 9 goals in 25 league appearances for recently promoted Freiburg and was rumoured to be a figure of interest at Spurs according to Football.London and TalkSport.

However, a move is now impossible, with Philipp having signed for Dortmund on a reported 5 year contract. An elated Philipp told Borussia Dortmund’s official club website:

“BVB are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is an honour for me to be able to play here.”

Michael Zorc, the Director of Football at Borussia Dortmund, also reiterated what papers had claimed for weeks; that Philipp was also a transfer target for clubs outside Germany. He said:

“We are delighted to have secured in Maximilian Philipp a player who was sought after at home and abroad.”

Tottenham must now pursue other targets. Who would you bring in?
