Messi looking to Dele

Another morning and another Tottenham star linked with a move away.

The Daily Star are reporting that Lionel Messi wants Dele Alli to replace Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

The article says that according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon the Argentine superstar wants the 21-year-old at the Nou Camp.

It’s suggested Messi views Alli as the long-term heir to Rakitic in the Barca engine room. At 29 one can imagine Barca aren’t ready to dump Rakitic just yet but it’s Don Balon after all & they also reckon Schalke star Leon Goretzka (who Spurs have been linked with) has also been mooted as a potential arrival.

The article adds that Messi, however, only has eyes for Alli.
also adding that England international has flourished since moving to Tottenham from MK Dons in 2015.

It continues to say that Mauricio Pochettino will be extremely reluctant to part with his prized asset, though, with Spurs eyeing silverware this term and Alli is a “key cog” in our first-team.

But the article does add that despite Messi’s eagerness to play alongside him, Don Balon say Alli isn’t the priority of Barca bigwigs.
Liverpool schemer Philippe Coutinho and Aletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann reportedly remain the clubs top targets.

Barca spent the entire summer chasing Coutinho and the Brazilian was said to be eager on a Nou Camp switch but Liverpool refused to do business and the playmaker remained at Anfield.

So Leo wants Dele but Barca want Phil!! Do we think Messi has really wants to play alongside Alli at the Nou Camp and are these the sort of rumours that can turn a young man’s head especially if he does sign up with one of the so called Spanish ‘Super Agents’ Let us know your thoughts?

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Another day and another report of one of our players being wanted by other teams. Nothing wrong with that. Although it’s not the case with this report, it’s irritating when it comes from ‘unbiased TV presenters’, as it has quite often of late, who are clearly just thinking of their own teams. I’ve thought a lot recently about us going onto the front foot, instead of always being defensive when such reports appear. I’ve especially thought of promoting the idea that Rashford should leave United if he wants to become a world-class player – even if it had more to with the brazen, air-headed statement about Harry Kane by Phil Neville than anything else! As a serious point, United may ‘build’, they may win some games, but they are never going to play the open style of football that will bring out Rashford’s potential. Morinho will always defer to defensive options when playing the larger teams. I think Rashford has a lot of potential ….. BUT surely he should leave United to realise it?? … perhaps he would have a better chance to become a world-class player with Spurs? Thoughts?
