Mourinho wants Alderweireld deal completed before the World Cup

Toby Alderweireld is wanted by Manchester United this summer and Red Devil’s supremo Jose Mourinho is keen to get the deal done.

Alderweireld is one of the most consistent players in the Premier League performer since initially signing for Southampton on loan and then Tottenham on a permanent basis in 2015.

He has played a key role in the club’s arrival as top four regulars however his time in north London looks to be up as Spurs are ready to sell now rather than lose him for a lot less next season following unsuccessful contract negotiations and Premier League rivals Manchester United are leading the chase for his signature.

However an article in The Daily Star describes how Mourinho faces a race against time to get the signing sorted as he is keen to seal a deal for Alderweireld before the World Cup starts on June 14th meaning United have at most 16 days to complete the signing of the Belgium international.

Alderweireld is also a key player Roberto Martinez’s side, who get their tournament underway on June 18th against Panama before taking on Tunisia and England in the group stages.

So it looks like United are trying to force Spurs hand over the deal. Have we seen the last of Toby in a Spurs shirt or might he be persuaded to change his mind? Let us know your thoughts.
