Mousa Dembele proves himself again

After coming on as a substitute in Tottenham’s 0-6 thumping away to Manchester City and playing just 30 minutes and showing the most intent in the entire side that played at the Etihad, Mousa Dembele once again proved himself to Andre Villas-Boas midweek as he put in a man-of-the-match performance by beating opponents, being strong on the ball and by even adding a goal to his name which sealed the 2-0 victory.

When Mousa Dembele joined Tottenham last season everybody had high hopes of his dominance in the midfield and when he scored on his debut vs Norwich at White Hart Lane I think the high hopes were even more ambitious. However last season, he pretty much cemented his place in the Tottenham midfield and knew his name would be on the team sheet every week with only Scott Parker and Tom Huddlestone contesting with Sandro injured for the majority of the season.

Whereas, this season he has been challenged for his position by the £17million pound man Paulinho, and the strong Etienne Capoue since his return and of course the fully fit Sandro has come back stronger than ever. Mousa Dembele has been quoted in the press in the last couple of weeks that he is unhappy with his current role at Spurs because he is not always being selected and when he does he plays a deeper role to break up play so he is proving himself in a more advanced role and I think after his performances against Manchester City, and FC Tromso midweek, he definitely deserves the nod over a sluggish looking Paulinho of late.

With the big game against Manchester United approaching and with the Tottenham squad travelling home from Norway at silly o’clock I just wonder if AVB would go with Dembele after his performances or if he would stick with the Brazilian pairing of Sandro and Paulinho after resting them midweek even though they have struggled to create many chances from midfield.

Who do you think should start in the centre of midfield against Manchester United on Sunday?
