MOAN OF THE MATCH: Referee Anthony Taylor’s decision to award Newcastle the penalty which led to their third goal, despite no Spurs player appearing to touch Moussa Sissoko. Having sent off Aleksandar Mitrovic to the home side’s anger moments earlier, perhaps Taylor felt some pressure to give it.

VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT: Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was without Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele but he will have been alarmed by their second-half performance in particular.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Eriksen hasn't covered himself in glory with his set pieces either.
Son was probably worse player on the pitch.. what does he actually bring to the side?

  2. Awful display today… Spurs have no impact players coming off the bench. Serious work needs to be done over the summer. New signings are a must…

  3. Nowhere to hide. Real marshmallow performance. So many poor performances by so many players. Hard to avoid the suspicion that sunny climes were to the forefront of their minds. Manager got it right when he apologised to fans and families. Also: very clear that midfield is non-existent in the both absence of Alli and Dembele.
