Victor Wanyama scored a late header to give Tottenham’s season lift-off as Mauricio Pochettino’s men beat Crystal Palace for their first victory of the campaign.

Spurs looked destined for a frustrating afternoon at White Hart Lane as summer signing Vincent Janssen and Harry Kane were both thwarted by a resolute Palace back line.

However Wanyama, bought from Southampton in June, capped his home debut with an 83rd-minute winner, heading in from close range to snatch a dramatic 1-0 win.

Michel Vorm: 6 (out of 10)

Kyle Walker: 6

Toby Alderweireld: 8

Jan Vertonghen: 7

Danny Rose: 6

Erik Lamela: 7

Victor Wanyama: 8

Eric Dier: 6

Christian Eriksen: 5

Vincent Janssen: 6

Harry Kane: 7

Substitutes:

Dele Alli (on for Eriksen, 68): 7

Joshua Onomah (on for Kane, 90): 5

  1. 7 for Kane.. What are you smoking??

    Jansen was an 8

As for poch dropping Dele that’s a 2 for him! Dreadful management for me considering dembele is out!

  2. what about Lamela? He was pathetic running like headless chicken.
Sorry I can't see spurs finishing in top 10 and worst the thrashing we will get in CL will be embarrassing!!
Overall with 2 games – very poor show/bad passing/panics/clueless corners/ too slow in attack and not enough cover (positioning) in opponent goal mouth. Very mediocre performance and Liverpool avenge todays defeat in Spurs!1

    • There are no easy games in the EPL. By the way did you watch the game? Perhaps Pochettino should have picked you. Maybe, seeing you know so much about the game you could replace Pochettino as manager!

Spurs wont win the Premiership. The 2 Manchester clubs could end up as 1 & 2 because they have Zlatan & Augerro!

      • Thanks for your thoughts. I watch every Spurs game wherever I am. I have been doing that before you were born – I assume.
What happened at the end of last season? Lamela is only good at certain times… now spurs are also masters of fouls .. just check our record, I will not explain everything but you curt paste this and read it when we get the stick in CL… maybe as early as the Liverpool game next week!
Afraid of Zlatan and Auguerro? Why when defense is our strength/
I hope I am wrong and we win just the Capital Cup!!! but not the present wings.

  3. Eriksen was awful again. I am glad that fans are finally recognising how poor he is. This was not a rare OFF performance but he was even worse than usual. If we get any decent offer in for him or modest, I strongly suggest we take it. If the fans ,and more importantly, those in power refuse to believe what they are watching and rely on Christians hype and media invented performances we are in trouble. Christian's situation is really starting to remind us of a previously media loved over hyped invented talent called David Bentley. People refused to accept that a serious mistake had been made that there must be more. Even if you had great talent and speed and strength without any sole or willingness to compete you will be nothing. And when you have no speed or strength and no true desire you are awful and will phase out of the game when exposed. Courage and desire cannot be taught when it is not in a person or athlete inevitably they can fake no more and we must move beyond them.

  4. Vorm a 6 without allowing a goal?? was he supposed to score?? Then David just as bizarre says man of the match with one save ?? Anyways Eriksen today was maybe a 3.4 .

Eriksen has been terrible for almost two complete seasons and has fooled some people. Of course he will suffer when Dembele is out ,or any one else who actually competes and wins the ball for him and gives it to him in oodles of space. Wake up,this guy is gutless and nowhere near Spurs best player or creative player. He is a liability living on a false hyped up reputation that most refuse to change including the media. Two free kick goals last October against Swansea 0 goals for the next 58 attempts. Corners useless. Today even with space found a way on a 3 on 1 break to hit the only defender. Got out of the way on every challenge as usual. Make all the excuses you want. He isn't in his preferred role or position or the other team did not allow him to receive the ball and turn without a challenge. Blah Blah Blah. He has no pace , no guts, no strength, and even his skill and brain which are ok, are not nearly superior enough to outweigh the other aspects of his game. Christian is holding us back and always will from finding or promoting a player who can really contribute. David Bentley the second coming is starting to look a reality.
