Pochettino expects Eriksen to sign new deal

Mauricio Pochettino insists it is only a matter of time before Christian Eriksen signs a new contract at Tottenham which is music to the news of fans who had been concerned about recent reports about the future of the playmaker.

Eriksen has been in talks with Spurs since March but the Dane is yet to agree an extension to his deal, which has two years left to run.

The midfielder denied reports last weekend that he is demanding £150,000 a week – five times his salary – and Pochettino is confident the player will remain at White Hart Lane.

“The players are sometimes involved in different things but they are very professional,” Pochettino said.

“Christian, we are happy with him, he’s very happy here and we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.

“Am I confident he’ll stay? He has two years more in his contract, he’s happy here. I think it’s just a question of time for him to agree a new contract.”

  1. I know others maybe a little critical of Christian but I love him , he’s work rate is outstanding and it would be nice sometimes if other players was on he’s wavelength he’s a must for extending he’s contract as you will not get much better out there than him

Plus he’s happy and hope levy knows he’s happy

    • If you believe and you must that his ground covered stat means he has a great work rate you have been fooled. Jogging around and pretending to press with no intention of actually winning a ball or blocking one best describes his work rate. I prey that others will never will be on his wave length or the whole team will feel they are too gifted to actually put a foot in or take a pass that may involve contact on reception. If you are honest you would probably also have to agree you thought David Bentley was a true talent, be honest. Christian is better than him but is really does not have enough upside to make up for his downside. If anybody again says brilliant free kicks do the Math 0 for his last 58. If that is brilliant than we differ in our opinions. COYS
