According to The Guardian Mauricio Pochettino will sanction a Championship loan for promising young talent Marcus Edwards this month.

A host of clubs have declared their interest in the 19-year-old attacking midfielder and the article says the situation is expected to move quickly in the coming days.

Edwards, who made his senior club debut as a substitute in the EFL Cup against Gillingham back in September 2016, has been unable to force himself back into first-team contention this season, however he has been hampered by a string of niggling injuries.

It adds that Mauricio Pochettino has come to accept that Edwards is now at a stage of his development where he needs to gain regular senior football and he considers a loan to the Championship as the right path for the youngster to take.

The manager continues to see a pathway at Tottenham for Edwards, who is so talented that he has acquired the nickname “Mini Messi” at the club.
