Pochettino waits on Kane’s fitness ahead of Madrid showdown

Mauricio Pochettino is unsure if star striker Harry Kane will be fit in time for the visit of Real Madrid. The 24 year-old faces a fitness test to determine whether he will be in with a chance of facing the Europeans Champions at Wembley in the Champions League.

A niggling hamstring injury picked up in the 4-1 win over Liverpool kept Kane out of Saturday’s trip to Manchester United, with Spurs drawing a blank before Anthony Martial struck late on to snatch a 1-0 win for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Pochettino selected Son Heung-min in attack rather than Fernando Llorente and though we made good progress in wide areas in the first half, we lacked any real physicality, and that was seemingly abandoned once Llorente was brought on in place of Korean just after the hour.

Wednesday’s Wembley fixture may well determine who top’s the group, however Mauricio is yet to receive any word on Kane’s condition.

“We’ll see in the next few days if he will be fit against Real Madrid,” Pochettino told his post match news conference.
“We need to asses him tomorrow and then take a decision.”
