Pochettino: “We still want to win and change the feeling we have from the weekend”

Mauricio Pochettino believes a win tonight would be the perfect tonic after defeat in the north London derby on Saturday according to an article on eirsport.ie

Pochettino’s men know the pressure is off for their trip  the Westfalenstadion having secured progression with a stunning 3-1 victory of Real Madrid in the last round of fixtures however, the article adds, after losing 2-0 at Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend, and with top spot in group H up for grabs, the Argentine is desperate for his side to bounce back with a victory at the Bundesliga outfit.

“[We’re] Still disappointed for the result [at Arsenal],” Pochettino told tottenhamhotspur.com. “When you lose a derby, our first time after three years and a half, you feel bad and very disappointed, the players of course because it’s massive for them trying to get a result but…. [we’ll] keep going and try to be ready for Dortmund tomorrow.

Pochettino added “Of course we are already qualified for the next stage but we still want to win and change the feeling we have from the weekend. When you lose always it’s important to play straight away to try and change that bad feeling.

“We’re going there trying to win and to perform as well. Borussia Dortmund are not in the next round, they are suffering a little bit but [with] their performances they are playing well. It’s a really good team, good players [and] it’s the last chance for them to be alive [to progress to the knockout stage] but they depend of course about the Real Madrid game.

Pochettino further added “Now we’re going to play for first position in the group and this would be a fantastic achievement after last season [when Spurs were eliminated in the group stage]. The team is moving up, it’s a massive achievement for the players for the team, for the club, so we’re going to try and finish top of the group but knowing that Borussia Dortmund will be a very tough game.”
