The Argentine handed the club a timely boost by putting pen to paper on a new five year deal keeping him at Spurs until at least 2023.

The announcement will certainly have new betting sites ranking Tottenham as one of the favourites to lift the Premier League title next season.

It isn’t just Pochettino who has signed a new deal, his backroom staff which includes Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino & Toni Jimenez also agreeing new contracts with the club that finished third in the league.

A delighted Mauricio said to the official Spurs site: “I am honoured to have signed a new long-term contract as we approach one of the most significant periods in the Club’s history and be the manager that will lead this team into our new world-class stadium.

He added: This is just one of the factors that makes this one of the most exciting jobs in world football and we are already making plans to ensure we continue to build on the great work that everyone has contributed to over the past four years.

He went on to say: “Daniel and I have spoken at length about our aspirations for this football club. We both share the same philosophies to achieve long-term, sustainable success. This is a special club – we always strive to be creative in the way we work both on and off the pitch and will continue to stick to our principles in order to achieve the success this Club deserves.”

Pochettino joined Spurs from Southampton in 2014 and has guided the Lilywhites to three successive top four finishes and more importantly, Champions League football for our beloved club.

It is hoped by Tottenham fans that chairman Daniel Levy will give the manager a substantial transfer kitty to spend during the summer window. A host of world class players have been linked with a move to N17, including Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, and a possible return to the club for superstar Gareth Bale who currently plays for Real Madrid.

Fans are hoping that Pochettino can also persuade world class defender Toby Alderweireld to remain at the club if we are to reach the heights of glory that we all wish for.
