Polish Media Link Spurs With Glik

According to Polish website Sport.pl, Tottenham Hotspur will be attempting to lure Monaco defender Kamil Glik away from the French champions this Summer.

It is reported that Monaco are currently trying to extend Glik’s contract at the club, which apparently still has 3 years left until expiry, and have offered the Polish international a salary of £3.1 million per year.

According to Sport.pl Spurs have informed the 29 year old that if he made the move to Tottenham he’d earn an increased amount of £3.5 million per year instead.

However, Monaco have absolutely no reason to sell the experienced centre-back, given that the defender, who scored 6 goals in 36 league appearances last season, is displaying no insistence to leave.

Therefore, I think we can safely assume this rumour will come to nothing. I’m very eager to see who Spurs will bring in as defensive reinforcements once we actually get around to selling Wimmer.

Right now, the most likely candidates are Swansea’s Alfie Mawson and perhaps Ajax’s Joel Veltman. Who would you prefer?
