Real Madrid star prefers Spurs move over United

According to The Express Gareth Bale favours a return to Spurs instead of moving to Manchester United, according to Spanish reports.

The Real Madrid star is reportedly set to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season and has long been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford.

However the article points to the uncertainty over Jose Mourinho’s future following their Champions League horror show against Sevilla, which has supposedly put Bale off making the switch, according to publication Diario Gol.

The Spanish based news page says he is now in favour heading back to Tottenham because he thinks the club can challenge the likes of United on all fronts.

Bale has slipped down the pecking order at Real Madrid recently, chiefly after an injury-plagued 18 months and a result, the Wales international has found himself on the bench for Real Madrid’s crunch games this season.

He was limited to a substitute appearances in December’s El Clasico and also the the Champions League last-16 wins against Paris Saint-Germain and it says Diario Gol believe Real Madrid’s hierarchy expect to sell Bale when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

It adds that United manager Mourinho has been following developments over the 28-year-old’s future and told him last August to push for a move and it adds that United were reportedly Bale’s preferred destination but their disappointing campaign has made him rethink the situation.
However, Diario Gol claim Bale is still weeks away from making a final decision and could still change his mind.
