Report: Crystal Palace star not currently on Spurs’ radar ahead of January window

Tottenham Hotspur are not believed to be looking at making a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, according to the Evening Standard.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, rumours are swirling around the world of football as to who will come and go at Tottenham Hotspur next month.

Despite an inconsistent start to the season, Spurs are still in fourth place in the Premier League table and have the knockout stages of the Champions League to look forward to. A hectic second half of the campaign is likely to take its toll on any squad, and Spurs will need to be at their best to keep up with those around them.

New recruits are expected, though the nature and quantity of any new arrivals remains to be seen. Antonio Conte has not been coy about his desire to add to his squad, but is seemingly well aware of the club’s vision and restraint when it comes to the transfer market (Fabrizio Romano).

According to The Times, Conte is keen on bringing in experienced players to add ready-made talent to dressing. One such player who would fit that bill is Zaha, who had recently been linked with a move to Spurs (FootballInsider).

Zaha’s current deal with Palace expires at the end of the season (Transfermarkt) and it is unclear at the moment where the player stands on extending his stay at the club, however, it appears that Spurs are not actively pursuing the Ivorian at present.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do think Wilf Zaha would be a good signing for us and would certainly add proven quality to our rotation of attackers. The fact we could sign him for cheap now, or for nothing in the summer, is surely an added perk, too, so it would be a shame if we did not at least test the waters with an approach.
