Report: Mouirnho confident of landing £25m rated Chelsea player

Jose Mourinho is confident of landing Chelsea defender, Kurt Zouma this summer with the Blues looking to replace the Frenchman, according to the Daily Express.

Despite being recalled to Frank Lampard’s squad in recent games, it is still believed the Chelsea manager is looking to add to his defence and it expected Zouma will be left looking for a new club.

Jose Mourinho worked with the 25-year-old during his last stint at Chelsea and is said to still be a big fan of the Frenchman.

The report suggests Everton are also interested in signing Zouma, the defender spent a season on-loan at the Toffees last year and could be interested in a permanent deal.

Zouma reminded Chelsea of his quality when his last ditch tackle in the dying embers of the 3-2 win against Crystal Palace earlier this week saved his side from dropping two points.

However, Mourinho is actively looking to strengthen his defence with the veteran, Jan Vertonghen destined for the exit at the end of the season.

Chelsea are believed to have put a £25m price tag on the centre-back which could prove a stumbling block for the North Londoners.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mourinho is wanting a new centre-back to strengthen the defence, however, it is clear we do not have much money to spend this summer. So, will we splash £25m on Zouma? Possibly, but the resurgence of Eric Dier in defence could mean with do not see any centre-backs joining this summer.
