Report: Real Madrid set to ‘aggressively’ push Spurs legend out of club this summer

Real Madrid are said to be looking to put 17 players up for sale this summer as they look to reduce their wage bill and recoup some of the money lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the players rumoured to be on their shortlist is Tottenham legend, Gareth Bale, a man who has proved to be a divisive figure of late in Spain (The Sun).

For years, Bale has been linked with a move away from Madrid and it seemed closer than ever last season as he looked set to make a mega-money move to China before Madrid pulled the plug on the deal (Guardian).

Bale has also been linked with a move back to Spurs and there is no doubt that this particular news will spark up those rumours yet again (Football.London).

The Sun Sport have reported a whopping £182m shortfall in Madrid’s books due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Los Blancos are hopeful of recouping most of that through transfers.

Marca report that the Madrid hierarchy will ‘aggressively’ push the winger out of the club this summer (as relayed by The Sun).

Spurs Web Opinion

As much as I would love to see Bale return, I just can’t see it happening. The figures simply do not add up for a potential move to Spurs. The Welshman is believed to be on around £2m-per-month in wages and that is simply not going to be possible to replicate at Spurs. However, it will be interesting to see where he goes if he does depart Madrid this summer.
