Report: Spurs may send 20-year-old out on loan for regular game time next season

Tottenham could be set to find Ryan Sessegnon a loan move away from N17 this summer with fears of his progression stalling under Jose Mourinho.

Sessegnon has not played a single minute of football since the return of the Premier League following the pause on sport due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Telegraph believes that the 20-year-old remains highly rated at the club and Spurs trust in his ability, however, he may have to be loaned out for regular first-team football.

Sessegnon missed out on the squad altogether in Monday’s narrow victory over Everton as 17-year-old full-back, Dennis Cirkin made the cut ahead of the ex-Fulham man.

Spurs landed long-term target, Sessegnon in August 2019 for £25m but injuries have limited his first-team action and he now seems out of favour under Jose Mourinho (Transfermarkt).

The 20-year-old has only made six appearances in the Premier League for Spurs since his summer move from Fulham.

Spurs Web Opinion

Much like Tanguy Ndombele, I want to see more of Sessegnon. Has he had the best start to life at Spurs? No, however, he has struggled with injuries and has only played six times in the league – give him more time. Perhaps a loan move would be wise in terms of generating some income and getting him game time next season if Mourinho does not see him as a regular starter.
