Report: Spurs set to announce the departure of two experienced players

Tottenham Hotspur are set to announce the departure of the veteran duo, Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm when their contracts expire at the end of this season.

The pair have a combined 14 years of service at Tottenham and have seen a number of different managers in their time with the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).

However, according to Football Insider, Spurs are set to announce the pair’s departure as the 2019/20 season comes to an end.

The duo both signed short term extensions to see it out until the end of the season after their deals were originally set to expire at the end of June before being disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic (Independent).

However, if Football Insider are correct, it seems as if neither of the veterans will be extending their contracts any further.

While there has not been a great deal of speculation regarding Vorm’s next venture, Vertonghen’s future is being widely discussed with Manchester City rumoured to be a potential destination (Telegraph).

Spurs Web Opinion

Vorm has been a good servant for the club over the years, however, I will be gutted to see Vertognhen leave. Purely on a sentimental basis, seeing Vertonghen leave will be tough. He has been a huge part in the transformation of Tottenham Hotspur and we all wish him the very best for his next adventure.
