Rumour Mill: Foyth Set For Spurs Visit?

South American outlet Diario Hoy reports that 19 year old Argentine Juan Foyth is on the brink of finalising a move to Tottenham.

Last week, it was reported that Spurs were negotiating a deal with Estudiantes to sign teenaged defender Juan Foyth for a fee of around £10 million.

Now, according to Diario Hoy, Foyth himself has indicated that a deal taking him to Tottenham is close to confirmation.

Speaking with the news outlet after a Copa Sudamericana match in Bolivia, Foyth stated:

“I know they are negotiating with Tottenham but I tried to stay focused on the game we were going to play.”

The publication also made the claim yesterday that Foyth was due to travel to London to sign a contract ‘within hours’.

More recently, El Dia, who earlier this week reported on Estudiantes President Juan Sebastián Verón flying to Europe to further negotiations, quoted Foyth on the saga sounding much less informed:

“To be honest I don’t know,” He said when asked about his reported upcoming trip to Tottenham. “I heard that they are negotiating with Tottenham.”

“But the truth is that I don’t know how far they are going to get and if I’ll finally be transferred. I ask little and I don’t want to know too much.”

It’s strange because the player himself speaks as though it’s totally out of his hands, which could be the truth.

SportWitness reckons Estudiantes are in dire financial need to sell this Summer, and if The Daily Mail are to be believed, a reported fee of £9 million from Tottenham Hotspur would go a long way to solving their issues.

Basically, it’s a bit of a messy one and it doesn’t help that the player in question knows about as much as we do.

If it materialised it would be Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing of the Summer, which has so far seen no less than 4 players leave the club already. The money’s there to be spent. Would you like Foyth to sign?
